I do believe in Fairies.. i do, i do!

When I was a little girl there was a lady in my hometown of Sarnia, Ontario (the fact that Sarnia sounded awfully close to "Narnia" was of no way a coincidence to me growing up) who used to set up little fairy houses in her garden and open her backyard to any children, parents or fairy enthusiasts who cared to see them and search for the ever allusive tiny tenants who inhabited them. It was such a spring tradition to hold my mommy's hand and imagine being tiny enough to live on  flower or under a toadstool.

That was well over 15 years ago, and bless her soul, but I don't believe she is still opening her garden to the public anymore. I suppose the Fairies grew tired of visitors and kindly asked her to allow them to spend the rest of their days behind closed doors... or closed flower petals in this case.

I've decided that I am going to carry on her tradition as soon as I have a garden of my own to tend too! So I looked up some pictures for inspiration and here are some of my favourites! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!

For sure my future home ^  just toooooo cute!!

Sir Stranger, Knight of Dollarama and Fearless Defender of a Maidens' Safety

I don't know about you, but most days I wish I lived in the 17th century instead of the 21st. One of the main reasons, of course, being I would get to spend everyday of my life luxuriating in floor length gold satin gowns with puffed sleeves whilst pouring over a book in the bay window over looking the garden of my castle. I would of course have to be some form of royalty for this to actually happen. If not, the 17th century may very well have been a nightmare for me. Spending everyday in an itchy sackcloth dress (that i am sure would do NOTHING for my complexion) lugging buckets of milk on my shoulders up and down the hill, and then at the end of day having no electricity or hot water to take my regular one hour long bubble bath. Although lets be serious, i would most likely be a princess.

Needless to say, there were both good and bad things about the middle ages, but the most important, and seriously lacking in our society today, was a little thing called CHIVALRY. For those of you who may have no idea what I am talking about here and think that Chivalry is another word for an ancient shovel, an expensive cheese or a brand of jeans let me explain. Chivalry was a code that Knights lived by in their everyday lives. They were not only expected to be fearless warriors but also gentlemen and kind hearted outside of battle. It was explained and written down in "The Songs of Roland" also known as "Charlemagne's Code of Chivalry" composed between 1098-1100:

To fear God and maintain His Church
To serve the liege lord in valour and faith
To protect the weak and defenceless
To give succour to widows and orphans
To refrain from the wanton giving of offence
To live by honour and for glory
To despise pecuniary reward
To fight for the welfare of all
To obey those placed in authority
To guard the honour of fellow knights
To eschew unfairness, meanness and deceit
To keep faith At all times to speak the truth
To persevere to the end in any enterprise begun
To respect the honour of women
Never to refuse a challenge from an equal
Never to turn the back upon a foe

Now what woman in her right mind would NOT want a man like this? And what man in their right mind would not want to live their life to honour this code? This all brings me to the main point of this post.

Today the cutest little old man in his late 70's, who I should very well have been opening a door for, went out of his way to open the door for me at dollarama. He then proceeded to walk me to my car so i wouldn't slip on the ice and told me to drive safely in the snow and have a lovely day.

Sigh..... now that is a true gentleman! I think that our generation has a lot to learn from people like this sweet old man. And call me old fashion but i still think that if there is a lady standing on a bus no matter how old or young she may be (and ESPECIALLY if she is in heels), that a a sturdy healthy young man should always give up their seat. I can't tell you how many times i have seen people stay sitting when their is a pregnant lady or elderly person standing directly in front of them. The same goes for woman. There is no reason we can't live by the laws of chivalry and give up our seats as well!

Haven't you ever dreamed of being a fearless knight or lady warrior?? Well here's your chance! Let's all try to integrate at least one of the points from the Code of Chivalry a day into our daily routine. Trust me, the world will be a better place for all because of it.

Ps. Just to clarify, I am dating a Knight of my very own, so this doesn't pertain to you hunny, you are doing just fine. Love you xoxo

how do gypsies pack?

My mom has taken to calling me "Gypsy Girl" these past couple of years because i tend to not stay in one place very long. However romantic and adventurous that may sound, it is also very frustrating when it comes to packing. If I was one of those girls who could get by with two pairs of jeans, two t-shirts, a sweater and a pair of UGGs for a week visit at home, things would be a lot easier. And don't think I haven't tried! But i just can't escape that feeling of horror that creeps up in the back of my mind when I contemplate the possibility of being left stranded in my hometown with out at least one pair of black 6 inch stilettos and a pink party dress when being invited for a nice dinner out and having only a pair of black flats, leggings and rock-t at my disposal! Or being left cowboy bootless when asked spontaneously to go shopping at the farmers market, where my new semi distressed brown and pink boots would be right at home. Even worse than that is not having access to my treasure troth of jewelry! So even if i were to pack a plain white t-shirt and pair of skinny jeans how could i (or any self respecting fashionista) fathom going out in public without my rhinestone owl necklace, 50 multi coloured bollywood inspired bangles, amber and turquoise ring and at least a feather or two in my hair? It's just not even an option! Therefore i am doomed to a life of over packing by at least two full suitcases, in a life where packing and unpacking is a part of my everyday existence.

Sigh...my packing rant is over. Now onto the photos for this blog. I was inspired by my overpacked suitcase to look for cool vintage suitcases and this is what i found!

This is me!

Well Hey there! thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. If you have followed me here from facebook or know me as a performer, don't worry... this isnt another way of promoting my music career! haha as a matter of fact i wont be posting anything here that has to do with me as a performer. This is just a place i am going to post things i like and make me happy. Pictures, music videos, art , quotes... tattoos.

I was going through folders on my computer the other day of all of the cool pictures i have found on the internet that have inspired and intrigued me the past little while and realized i had created quite the collection. I have one folder titled "wish". Its started off as a virtual "Hope chest", filled with pictures of wedding dresses and decor to keep for the future and then i started adding pictures of home decor that i thought was stunning and it just kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. I have another folder titled "love". And its just picture of quotes, fabrics, flowers, feathers, tattoos, trees, animals, fashion and gardens. Anywho, i've decided its time i share these with people and keep the ball rolling as i found most of these pictures on blogs much like this one.

I hope you like it and are inspired like i was by these picture... or that your boredom is at least cured for the few minutes it takes you to look through them. either one will work <3
